the answer is yes...i should've waited another hour before putting the top element on high.
problem is, when you work for yourself, there's no one else to blame when you do something stupid, like blowing up the whole top row of tiles in the bisque. (well, i think it was only 5 or 6 tiles, but it made the biggest mess!) ...anyway, this was the start of my day.
i did also unload some jewelry pieces from my small kiln that i really like--makes me think maybe i should just work with porcelain for everything...i love the way it looks, so bright white.

the rest of the day went pretty well, once i finished kicking myself, i got alot of work done. tomorrow's another day!

Ugh! The worst feeling!
Boy, we did that recently with two lamp bases on the bottom of the kiln- kick once and remove mess.
the roller coaster of working with clay--i got a few gorgeous test glazes out this morning, and all's right with the world again!
I try to look at mistakes as opportunities for learning, though sometimes it's really hard. Thankfully you've also got some good things happening to balance it out.
Those new jewelry pieces are lovely - such rich, gorgeous colors. They do look just like candies!
